Below can be seen a graphical look at the population size of countries, both China as well as India have a population exceeding that of Africa in its total. The combination of North, Middle and South America too is smaller than China or India.

note: this graph only shows countries with a population over 5 million on July 1, 2012 (est.). The color indicates the size: means a country > 95 million means a country between 75 and 95 million a country 61-70 million a country 43-51 million a country 31-41 million a country 20-30 million a country 13-20 million a country 6-12 million a country 5-6 million people. note: two-letter code refer to ISO codes of countries.
